The Boyu WF-2045 is a compact, efficient hang-on-back (HOB) filter ideal for smaller aquariums and planted tanks. This whisper-quiet waterfall-style filter combines mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration in one space-saving design—perfect for nano tanks, breeding setups, and community aquariums requiring reliable water circulation without taking up valuable tank real estate.
Key Benefits:
- Optimal Flow Rate (500L/h): Delivers 3-4 complete water turnovers per hour for tanks up to 40-60 liters—ideal for gentle water movement in planted tanks while maintaining effective filtration
- 3-Layer Filtration System: Multi-stage mechanical, chemical, and biochemical filtration removes debris, impurities, and odors while cultivating beneficial nitrobacteria for biological cycling
- Ultra-Low Power Consumption (6.5W): Energy-efficient motor runs continuously 24/7 with minimal electricity draw—saves money on operating costs
- Super Silent Operation: Excellent shock absorption and vibration dampening—quieter than competing HOB filters, with only soothing waterfall sounds
- Waterfall Aeration Design: Specially designed cascade flow increases oxygen dissolution and promotes CO₂ diffusion—ideal for planted aquariums and fish requiring higher oxygen levels
- Surface Oil Film Processor: Automatically removes biofilm and surface contaminants, keeping water crystal clear and extending filter life
- Adjustable Flow Rate: Fine-tune water flow with control knob to suit delicate plants, fry tanks, or heavily stocked setups
- Compact & Slim Design: Space-efficient profile (235 x 118 x 325mm) fits tight spaces and doesn't clutter smaller aquarium setups
- Easy Assembly & Maintenance: Simple plug-and-play installation; filters hang securely on any tank edge
- Suitable for All Water Types: Works in freshwater, planted, and brackish aquarium systems
Perfect For: Nano tanks (40-60L), planted community tanks, shrimp tanks, breeding tanks, betta tanks, and aquariums where space and quiet operation are priorities.

How to Use / Instructions
Installation & Setup:
- Verify power supply: AC 230V/115V, 50/60Hz, 6.5W
- Mount filter on side or back of aquarium tank edge
- Important: Keep inlet tube vertical and close to water surface for optimal intake and automatic priming
- Critical: Maintain water level above filter motor at all times to ensure auto-priming. If water level drops below motor, filter will stop when power is interrupted and may not auto-restart
- Fill filter chamber completely with water before powering on
- Insert inlet tube into tank water
- Adjust flow rate using control knob at bottom of filter
Operation:
- Maximum flow rate: 500 L/h (8.3 LPM)
- Recommended tank size: 40-60 liters (10-15 gallons); up to 125 liters maximum
- Dimensions: 235mm (L) x 118mm (W) x 325mm (H)
- Operating power: 6.5W
- Frequency: 50/60Hz
Filter Media Maintenance:
- Inspect mechanical filter weekly for debris
- Rinse mechanical media (foam/floss) every 1-2 weeks in tank water only (never tap water—destroys beneficial bacteria)
- Replace or rinse chemical media (activated carbon) monthly as needed
- Biochemical media only requires cleaning if flow significantly decreases
- Clean intake tube monthly to prevent clogging
Water Chemistry:
- Waterfall design naturally increases aeration—suitable for oxygen-demanding fish
- Helps diffuse excess CO₂ in planted tanks; consider reducing flow if surface agitation is excessive
- Naturally lowers water disturbance for gentle planting environments
Troubleshooting:
- Filter won't restart after power outage: Check water level is above motor; refill if needed
- Reduced flow: Clean intake tube and mechanical filter media
- Wobbling: Secure hanging brackets firmly to tank edge
- Never run dry—always ensure filter is filled with water before operation
Important Safety Notes:
- Never touch plug with wet hands
- Keep electrical cord away from water
- Unplug before maintenance or cleaning
- Not recommended for outdoor pond use
- Use GFCI outlet recommended for safety
